Kraak Style-Chilong Water Jarlet-Tienchi
A
very impressive and rare Kraak style cobalt blue late Ming water
jarlet of Tienchi reign (AD1621-1628). Decorated with different
pattern of mouse deer movement in 4 segments. Two "Chilong"
or folk dragons flying on top of mouse deers. This is typical Kraak
style motif then being described by Maura Rinaldi in the book"
Kraak Porcelain-A moment in the history o trade". In North
Sumatra, Indonesia, it was known as pupuk or guri-guri,
this pot was probably used as a medicine container and well protected
in rattan skirt by Batak people of 17th century. A similar
piece also being exhibit at Asian Civilian Museum Singapore,South
East Asia gallery. Authentic piece from shipwreck, South China Sea.
Some age wear at the mouth rim.
