| A
beautiful pair of Song dynasty Jizhou storage jar in very good condition.
These jar seem like matching piece in as the shape, lid and glaze
colour is very close. The tip of the lid is unglaze which allow
the potter to dry the glazed lid on ground. It was self explained
by the sand adhered on the lid.
Black spot within the brownish glaze at external and transparent
glaze at internal. One unglaze band at shoulder. Perhap this round
lid storage jar was the inspiration and evolution of Ming and Qing
dynasty ginger jar.
Condition:
1
tiny firing crack at shoulder but not gone thru the body. No other
chip, hairline or restoration. Very good glaze remain with potter
thumb mark near to base. Natural orangy firing colour on unglaze
paste.
This is indeed an extreme beautiful and rare jizhou piece that serious
collector can't miss!!!
