An matching pair of B&W late Ming dynasty, Wanli era (AD1573-1620) meiping decorated with pair of flying pheonix among the cloud. There is typical ruyi cloud pattern around the shoulder neck. The vase has been joined around the neck, shoulder and waist, which the old technique used during Ming dynasty.

Very good condition. No repair and hairline. Age wear and scratches visible on the glaze surface. Few small unglaze spot noted.

Meiping has being used as wine vessel during Sung dynasty. However, during Ming dynasty, meiping became symbolic of status instead of storage jar and used to be an important burial ware to Duke, High Rank Official, Noble family and Merchant. There are almost 300 meiping vases found from various Ming dynasty's Jingjiang King Mausoleum, excavated near Guilin being display at Quilin Museum where large proporion attribute to Jiaching~ Wanli reign. This is indeed an important study piece that hard to found nowaday.
