| An extremely large and impressive Tianqu bulb vase with
rich iron copper red glaze or commonly recognise as Ox-Blood
glaze attribute to mid 19th century, mostly likely Daoguang
era (AD1821-1850),Qing dynasty.
In fact, red glaze vase of this
shape quite popular since Kangxi to Republic era as red colour
was an auspicous colour in Chinese belief. The vase has beautiful
red effect as ox blood (see micro photos) that earned the name
of "Ox-Blood" glaze.
The vase has some crackle glaze
formed around the globular body and reach the base foot rim
where the glaze stop.
Some wear to the foot rim as the overflow red glaze sticked
to the ground and has to be knock-off. Others then that it was
in excellent condition.
Is
rather hard to find the shape of this size nowaday and it is
truly an elegent hall display piece !!!
