| An
extremely beautiful blue and white mid Ming dynasty, Zhengde reign
(AD1506-1521) meiping vase with flora scroll motif around the shoulder
and body.
There
is typical banana leave pattern around the neck, follow by ruyi
cloud pattern at the lower half of the slim foot rim.
Condition:Very
good glaze remain. Some scratches wear visible on the glaze surface.
Few bubble burst visible on the glaze surface around the neck. Other
then that is consider excellent. No others repair, chip, hairline
or restoration.
Meiping
has being used as wine vessel during Sung dynasty. However, during
Ming dynasty, meiping became symbolic of status instead of storage
jar and used to be an important burial ware to Duke, High Rank Official,
Noble family and Merchant. There are almost 300 meiping vases found
from various Ming dynasty's Jingjiang King Mausoleum, excavated
near Guilin being display at Quilin Museum where large proporion
attribute to Jiaching~ Wanli reign. This is indeed an important
study piece that hard to found nowaday.
